What to expect from our menu tasting

Menu tastings are typically held during the first quarter of your wedding year. Tasting dates and invitations are usually released in December of the year prior. While we would love to schedule tastings earlier, we keep our event calendar open year-round to accommodate short-term bookings. Please keep an eye out for an email invitation in December, as you will be able to choose from multiple dates, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Due to limited space, reservations are limited to two guests per couple. This may be you and your fiancé(e), or—if you’re unable to attend—you’re welcome to send a parent, sibling, or friend in your place. To ensure all couples have the opportunity to attend, we kindly ask that you do not bring additional guests or vendors (such as wedding planners).
At the tasting, you’ll experience everything The Oaks has to offer firsthand. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a glass of champagne and invited to enjoy a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, beer, and wine—plus the chance to meet our bartending team.
After cocktail hour, you’ll be seated for dinner, where our Executive Chef, Rhett Montague, will introduce the culinary team and walk you through the menu items you’ll be sampling. Throughout the evening, our bartenders and kitchen staff will visit tables to answer any questions about menu or bar options. Dinner includes a plated salad and a selection of our most popular entrées, featuring a variety of proteins, sauces, and sides, followed by an assortment of desserts—hosted by some of our preferred vendors.
During dinner, we ask that you complete the menu tasting form to the best of your ability. While your menu will not be finalized at this time, your selections will help us create a customized menu outline. At the end of the event, our team will collect your completed form to assist in building your Banquet Event Order (BEO), which includes food, beverage, and timeline details for your big day. Once we create your customized BEO, we will share it with you to review.
While you dine, you’ll also have the opportunity to view decor elements to inspire your wedding design, including ceremony arches, select decor pieces, linen colors, place settings, and design upgrades. Our coordinator team will meet with each couple individually to answer questions and offer planning guidance. With an open bar and delicious food, it’s the perfect date night to jump-start your wedding planning!
Menu Consultation
If you’re unable to attend a menu tasting, we’re happy to offer a menu consultation instead. During this 20–30 minute meeting (either in person or by phone), we’ll review service style, menu selections, bar package options, and available linen and flatware choices.
